3rd Introduction to Media Literacy for LGBTI CSO Actors

Unspoken: Creating Dialogue on LGBTI Rights in the Turkish Cypriot Community is a 2-year project funded by the European Union under the Cypriot Civil Society in Action program and implemented by Cyprus Community Media Centre – CCMC in cooperation with Queer Cyprus Association and the Thomson Foundation.

The purpose of this project is to achieve social change by combating discrimination based on gender and sexual orientation and improving levels of media coverage and public debate. The scope of this project also includes targeting lasting change in the representation of the LGBTI community in the mainstream media as well as increasing media coverage and ultimately creating a positive shift towards more inclusive media in the northern part of Cyprus.

Media Literacy Workshops for CSO Actors and Activists will be held as three, two-day sessions. Mark Webster from Thomson Foundation will lead the third session of the workshop series.

The workshop will be held in English with simultaneous interpretation (Turkish-English) provided to participants during all three sessions of the workshops. Furthermore, CSO actors and activists who attend all three sessions of workshops will receive a certificate of attendance.
