Queer Cyprus Film Festival 2021

Queer Cyprus Film Festival 2021

KKFF21
Queer Cyprus Film Festival, which will take place between the 21st and 25th of May 2021, provides a movie selection regarding the themes of queer, migration, masculinity, etc. Being aware of the variety of disadvantages, films on the festival are selected based on an intersectional approach. As such, we aim that they will provide companion and support for you at times of pandemic and lockdown. We believe that it is possible and, in fact, necessary to queerantalize in every area of life. By showing the enlisted films, we aim to make queer art more visible, support it and spread it.

In order to get access to the films, you need to be registered through links. After registration, you will receive an e-mail explaining how to watch the films. You will have the opportunity to watch them until the time of the talks. It is highly recommended that you watch them before attending talks.

The festival will begin with the short film Hunt on the 21 of May. The film is about homophobia in Cyprus, the patriarchal structure of society, and the struggle of LGBTI+s to live in such a society. You can watch the film through the link provided to you and attend the talks at 20:00. During the talks, you can listen to the artists and ask your questions. The event will be in Turkish.

Between 22 and 23 of May, the International Queer Migrant and Migrant Film Festival selection will be available to watch. There will be a talk with the producers and actors. These selections are quite interesting as they show particular vulnerabilities coming from the intersection of queer and migration. The event will be in English.
