In It Together: “Let’s Talk about Pride and Hate Speech”
Each year during May and June, Pride Marches take place to highlight the LGBTI+ community and its existence and rights across Cyprus. These marches are organized to make the LGBTI+ struggle visible and to raise awareness in society. Unfortunately, every year after these marches, hate speech and negative comments are posted across social media platforms. Such negative comments and discourses deeply affect the LGBTI+ community and allies. In particular, hate speech and online harassment negatively affect mental health and well-being. We invite everyone interested in the thematic discussion event, “In It Together: “Let’s Talk about Pride and Hate Speech” co-organized by Queer Cyprus Association and Bubble Out Cyprus, to discuss the effects of hate speech on those who experience them. The session will be moderated by a certified psychologist with an expert background in LGBTI+ issues and will give participants the opportunity to share their stories and experiences in a safe and supportive environment.
To participate in the event, please pre-register by filling out our Thematic Discussion Registration Form. The event will be held in English and language support will be provided to those who have difficulties expressing themselves in English.
