We do not accept the fact that the British Colonial legacy Penal Code, threatening the lives of all, keeping rape and sexual harassment unpunished, and defining and penalizing homosexuality as “unnatural”, is still in effect in Cyprus!
Change the “Immorality Chapter” of the Penal Code!
We are taking a historic step to ensure that violations to human rights and crimes against our sexuality and bodies come to an end. We raise our voice to change the PENAL CODE which criminalizes homosexuality and lacks deterrent preventions to sexual assault and rape! With the support of tens of organizations from 11 countries we request that as a part of human rights, our sexual rights are protected!
As a feminist and LGBTT movement, we support the “A Common Struggle – Together” campaign organized by International Coalition on Sexual and Bodily Rights on November, 9. As the Cyprus front of the campaign, Feminist Atelier and Initiative Against Homophobia request that all articles regulated under Immoral offenses are changed immediately starting with Chapter 154 of the Penal Code which criminalizes homosexuality!
