LGBTI+ In Freedom from Exploitation (LiFE) Project is funded by the European Union under the Together Against Trafficking in Human Beings Grant Scheme and implemented by Queer Cyprus Association in cooperation with KAOS-GL. It started on 8 May 2019 and will last for 30 months. The project aims to contribute to the efforts of LGBTI+’s who are victims, potential victims of trafficking in human beings and those at risk in the northern part of Cyprus.

During the scope of this Project the following activities will be conducted:

- Mapping the situation of LGBTI+ sex workers in the northern part of Cyprus,
- Printing and publishing of the mapping study,
- Holding information sessions about trafficking in human beings of LGBTI+ for the members and allies of Queer Cyprus Association,
- Holding expert focus group meeting where non-governmental organizations that conduct efforts against trafficking in human beings in Cyprus and in Turkey,
- Carrying out advocacy activities to ensure anti human trafficking efforts LGBTI+ inclusive,
- Holding training sessions for the Queer Cyprus ‘Solidarity Line” volunteer,
- Strengthening the communication of peer worker to worker,
- Mapping of the existing social services and the accessibility to these services,
- Providing free social welfare services for LGBTI+ victims, potential victims of trafficking in ands those at risk.
Queer Cyprus Association:
Queer Cyprus Association is a non-governmental organization that works against the discriminations based on gender, gender expression, sexual orientation and gender identity. Queer Cyprus Association started off as a civil society movement in 2007 under the name “Initiative Against Homophobia” and in 2012, the movement is being carried out under the name “Queer Cyprus Association”. In 2014, with the change of local legal text, homosexuality no longer considered as a crime in the northern part of Cyprus and Queer Cyprus Association gained a different direction. Queer Cyprus is an organization that works actively in various fields such as law, education psychology and health with local and international organizations in order to ensure LGBTI+’s access to human rights.
